Originally from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain, I have lived in Newtownabbey, County Antrim, for over 25 years, where I teach piano in person (and online).

My love of music began at a young age. I trained at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, where I studied Music, with a focus on piano teaching and performance. Over the years, I have gained experience teaching piano, accompanying singers and instrumentalists, and working in choral settings as both a musical director and alto singer.

Alongside music, I studied Software Engineering at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. I came to Belfast on an Erasmus scholarship. Then I decided to stay and began my career as an engineer.

But music never really left me.

After spending some time working outside the music profession, I eventually found my way back through my children's school. That experience reignited my passion for teaching and performing, and music has been at the heart of my life ever since.

Returning to music also made me realise how much I still wanted to learn. I decided to invest in myself and continue my education, studying Music and English with the Open University and returning to the piano to rebuild and develop my playing.

During the pandemic, I dedicated even more time to studying and practising. But I didn't want simply to become a better pianist or to teach in the same way I had always taught. I wanted to understand more deeply how people learn music, how we can teach more effectively, and what current research tells us about music pedagogy, particularly piano teaching.

That led me to pursue further training in piano pedagogy and to continue investing in my professional development. I regularly attend piano courses and masterclasses and continue my studies in advanced music theory and composition.

I hold an ARSM qualification in both Performance and Music Teaching, and I am also a graduate of The Piano Teachers Course UK (CertPTC UK). I am an active member of The Curious Piano Teachers, the Independent Society of Musicians (ISM), and EPTA-UK.

Alongside my teaching, I serve as the ABRSM Honorary Local Representative for Belfast, supporting local teachers and students. I am also a Vocal Health First Aider and hold an Enhanced AccessNI certificate.

It was through my continued exploration of music education that I discovered coaching.

One of my music courses included a module on coaching for music teachers and using coaching techniques with students. I immediately saw how naturally coaching complemented music teaching. It offered me another way to listen, ask better questions and help students become more aware of their own goals, challenges and possibilities.

I decided to explore coaching further and trained as an EMCC Accredited Coach at Foundation Level, reflecting my commitment to professional and ethical standards in coaching.

Today, my coaching focuses on helping music educators and creative leaders achieve their full potential. I am particularly interested in the space where coaching, music education and personal development meet.

For me, coaching isn't about telling someone what they should do. It's about creating the space to step back, ask the right questions, understand what might be holding you back and identify the steps that will help you move forward.

My journey has taught me that it's never too late to learn something new, return to something you love or take your career in a different direction. Sometimes, investing in yourself isn't simply about improving your CV or increasing your income. It can be about creating a professional life that feels meaningful.

This is also why I founded The Belfast Piano Group, a welcoming community for adult amateur pianists who want to learn, practise, share, perform and connect with fellow pianists.

Whether through teaching, coaching or bringing people together through music, my aim is the same:

Because if my own journey has taught me anything, it is that it's never too late to reconnect with what you're passionate about, keep learning and create a professional life that feels meaningful to you.
